I haven’t officially be diagnosed with cervical instability, but my GP thinks it’s likely. I have, though, just been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in my cervical spine (it’s probably also in my lumbar, but I’ve not had those images done yet). I know I will need to work on strengthening my neck, but my ortho did say a soft cervical collar can help in the short term, especially as by the end of the day, it hurts to hold my head up. My hubby (an OR nurse) is afraid it will weaken or stiffen my neck if I use it too much, and frankly, it is way too hot to be wearing one on a sub-tropical island as summer is beginning… Had anyone had experience with the open frame type neck braces? Whether hard plastic or the silicone ones? TIA!
